After years of developing a reliable, creator-friendly AR platform, Wintor is entering a new chapter. We are excited to share that Wintor is being acquired by Shosho, the Amsterdam-based studio known for 25 years of excellence in film, animation, VFX, and interactive media.
This isn’t a sudden move; it’s a continuation of a workflow that already proved itself in the field.

A Partnership Built on Real Results
Our collaboration on Portlantis, the Port of Rotterdam’s sustainability experience center, showed what happens when strong technology meets a deeply creative design team.
Wintor provided the AR infrastructure, stability, and flexibility to adapt designs quickly.
Shosho handled creative direction, visual design, and integration of narrative elements.
The experience became a visitor favorite: school groups, families, and industry professionals engaged naturally with the AR content, and the digital layer made the physical exhibition feel alive. The PR plan describes the impact clearly.
Portlantis successfully “merged physical exhibits with digital magic” and demonstrated how accessible, educational, and fun AR can be for all ages.
This wasn’t just a good collaboration. It was a proof of fit between both companies. The acquisition simply formalizes a synergy that already existed.
What This Means for Wintor Users
Wintor’s technology has been proven in real-world deployments across museums, cities, and visitor centers. Now, with Shosho’s creative capabilities, 3D animation, illustration, video, sound, and spatial storytelling, Wintor will deliver more polished, visually rich AR content than ever before.
For clients, this means:
access to cinematic-level design assets
tighter integration between creative concept and AR execution
smoother production pipelines
more options for storytelling inside the Wintor platform
Platform Continuity & Growth
Wintor will continue to support all current platforms and maintain its commitment to being the easiest no-code AR tour creation tool on the market. We closed 2025 with Update v15, a major release featuring preset animation improvements and expanded creator controls, a strong finish to the year, and a foundation for the next phase of growth.
A Look Toward 2026: Stability, Accessibility, and Depth
The 2026 roadmap focuses on two parallel goals:
1. Make AR Creation Even More Accessible
Wintor remains committed to keeping the editor simple for beginners:
clearer creator UX
easier onboarding
more intuitive workflows
2. Add Advanced Tools for Experienced Creators
A new layer of optional advanced settings allows detailed content polish without overwhelming beginners. Examples of completed or in-progress work include:
smoother animation triggers
improved object interactions
deeper creator controls for timing, actions, and editing precision
We avoid listing specific future features publicly, but the direction is clear: make simple things easier, and advanced things possible.
A Unified Production Pipeline: What Clients Gain
This acquisition also means Wintor now works directly inside Shosho’s creative environment. From what we have already experienced during Portlantis and internal projects:
iteration cycles are faster
design changes are easier to implement
visual assets integrate more cleanly into AR
communication loops are tighter
content quality is consistently higher
Museums, cultural institutions, tourism boards, and experience centers will benefit from a single pipeline that moves from concept → design → 3D → AR → deployment without friction.
This is a rare combination: a proven AR platform backed by a studio with 25 years of storytelling expertise.
